Good morning! Jumping into the day with my first cup of coffee. That delicious first cup never gets old as I write in my journal. The weather here has been scorching hot this week. I have been showing my lawn some extra love with the extra watering. I have ventured outside quite a bit, as I am such an outdoorsy person. It is easy to go stir crazy if you don't get out to enjoy nature.
I made some apple pie the other night, or should I say I placed an apple pie in the oven. I have to laugh at that because I love to bake, but I rarely ever make a homemade apple pie. I have found baking to be quite relaxing and therapeutic. That is why I get exercise on most days. It is my vice. My only vice is other than my coffee. What is something that you like to do? Everyone has something that makes them happy. As I enjoyed the apple pie, I reflected on the great state that I chose to be my home. It is right in the middle of the United States. It is as American as you can get. It is Superman and apple pie. It is full of small towns where American flags line the streets. From rolling hills to sunsets that light up the skies with every color God ever created. I grew up in a neighboring state, but I call this place my home. I have planted deep roots here. I wonder if others can find beauty in their own state as I do. We live in a beautiful and majestic country. I am grateful for the life that I have and thank God every day.
Tonight my neighborhood is having an informal neighborhood gathering at our local bar and grill. I am new to this neighborhood, so I am looking forward to making some new friends and seeing some familiar faces. I hope to buy a golf cart this summer. Most neighbors venture out for a drive every evening. It is a constant social gathering here. I have been somewhat of an introvert for the last few years, so this has been good for me. With social media, you see what people are up to and you don't see those people in person as much. At least I haven't.
This pandemic opened my eyes and made me see how much I really missed people. I have seen so many businesses struggle here and people struggle with a lack of social interaction. My son loved school virtually, but so many kids had such a difficult time. Our state has gotten back to some normalcy. We must forge on and take back our lives. Life must go on. What are you doing now that you put on hold during the hardest part of the pandemic? I am simply happy to be able to go grocery shopping without a mask. I look forward to traveling again soon.
My house is spotless, my plans for today include grocery shopping and exercise. I may call a couple of friends and catch up. We will eat at the local restaurant tonight. No dishes to do. Something different for me. I always prepare dinner at home. I am going to work on my bucket list goal of learning German. I hope to be completely fluent in German and French over the next couple of years. Those are a couple of items on my bucket list. I will mention more of my bucket list items another time. I know that trying new things makes me happy.
Living a full life learning and living with intention is very important. I don't want to have any regrets. I know there are many writers out there that have found a niche with their readers. Some share opinions, cleaning tips, recipes, relationship skills, etc.. I will share what I do to live a life with excellence and with passion. Now just know there are days that I start with the best of intention, and things don't work out as planned. Everyone can relate to that. I will share all of that with you. I will be as transparent as I can be. Well, I think this is all for today. Enjoy this beautiful day.
