Isn't it funny how many conversations are started by talking about the weather? I was in sales for over 20 years, and it always seemed to be the kickoff for every conversation in every situation. It is a way to connect with a complete stranger. I think that every human needs to connect with people in some form or fashion. There is so much going on in the headlines today, and it is refreshing to talk about more simple topics. I remember sitting on the front porch as a child, watching the rain coming down. I love the smell of rain. Tornados can be common during this time of the year, and if there is ever any talk of a tornado, we almost always have to watch the movie Twister. It is a staple movie in the Midwest. We had thunderstorms overnight, and as usual, I slept like a baby. Why is it that we can sleep like a baby during a storm, but when faced with adversity while awake, most of us get upset or anxious? We let go to fall asleep, but we "hang on" to our worries when awake. I have been walking with my husband and son most nights during the week. We get to see some of the most spectacular sunsets. Pinks, reds, blues, and some purples in the sky. God's handiwork. Weather can be inconvenient at its worst, but necessary for the earth's vegetation to grow and flourish. Are you saying that we grow and progress through storms? Why yes I am. You see, it is all about perspective about the growth that we experience during our trials. The birds can weather the storm and so can we. I was sitting outside last night and took this picture. I just moved into our new home a couple of months ago and I am blown away by the beautiful sunsets that we are able to see every night. You can also see in the picture a large strip of yard that is missing sod, well that is on its way to being fixed soon... Looking forward to the sunshine too. Memorial Day weekend kicking off summer is almost here. There will be many festivities, parades, and family gatherings. Remember why we celebrate the freedoms that we do. I may just talk about the weather...
